How To Improve Children's Gut Health?
Do kids need probiotics? Is it important for children to take probiotic supplements or eat probiotic foods for better gut health? Should kids drink kombucha? This is definitely one of the top 5 questions I receive when families come to sample or pick up a bottle of kombucha or kefir from us. And in 90% of the situations, my response is always a "yes".
It's important for me to throw a couple of caveats in there (every family is different in terms of what they choose to eat and how they provide for their children), but from an overall perspective, a strong healthy gut is vitally important to a child during it's growing years, and probiotics can assist in that.

Today, I'm going to be talking about Dr. Oz, and more specifically, how Dr. Oz is really changing the landscape in terms of people looking at the nutritional supplements they're taking. However, I'd like to take one step back and say this. I think Dr. Oz is really very knowledgeable. I like his show, I've seen it a couple of times. He makes a zillion times more money than I do, and he has no effect on my business, so I don't have any issues with Dr. Oz.
The thing that I have is that I have discussed with probably 10, 20 or so people about how they saw something on Dr. Oz or another show, and that there is this product that... (fill-in-the-blank)...increases metabolism, helps you lose weight, or can help you get more energy. This happens in a majority of instances. How do you compare food labels? Serving size is what's on the nutrition label. Portion size is what you choose to put on your plate. But when you're meal planning, and let's say that you have specific amounts of carbohydrates or proteins that you're looking for, it's important to know and to compare apples to apples when you go to the grocery store.
