So many times, and prior to even having a general conversation with me, many people who are interested in losing that "bloat" begin to inevitably realize how many "diets" they have been on over the course of their lifetime have given them limited or even no great long-term success. (Captain Obvious here, but) that's essentially the reason why we are even having a conversation anyway. If you have followed me for any length of time, you know I am a firm believer that probiotics can help you with weight loss.
In an ideal scenario, our bodies would work properly and efficiently, absorbing nutrients, and expelling waste. And having a properly functioning digestion tract can certainly be the key to make this happen. There....done. Finished. But more often than not, it becomes a lengthy and complicated mess to untangle. Oftentimes, after asking the right questions, it all comes together, the explanations, the rhymes, the reasons. You can actually see the bigger picture as to why someone's body is or is not doing something. I think that the more you attempt to understand your body, and how it relates to food, the better you can be when trying to accomplish your fitness and health goals. I recently met with a client who has had limited success with diets. She was quite frustrated with the overall lack of progress she has made. She is a "fit" woman. Exercises. Eats right. But the problem was her (body's) inability to shed those last 10-15 pounds. She had tried everything. But by asking lots of questions, it became apparent that her body had too much cortisol being produced (she was one of those moms with 3 kids, school projects, volunteer work, and running a household) and her constantly high levels of insulin levels had even left the possibility that she was insulin insensitive and definitely sensitive to some foods. ![]()
After taking a step back, it became clear that a majority of her problems were all connected, like one big circle. This affected that, which affected that, which led to an increase in that and a decrease in that. Although we are just starting to work together, the important aspect, I believe was asking the right questions. When it comes to your weight or fitness or health goals, are you asking the right questions. As they say, if you don't ask the right questions, you won't know the right answers.
