So it's a couple months into the new year.... lots of things going on I know. Let's go ahead and address the white elephant in the room... How are those New Year's Resolutions coming along? Haven't had time...too much work stuff...Been sick...yada, yada, yada..... I've actually been debating on exactly what to put up this week to possibly inspire you something or discuss something health or digestion related, but I hit a bit of writer's block. I could talk about the gut, or a new food, or exercise, or how about how I plan to run a marathon (are you laughing yet?).
But it really doesn't have to be about anything, right? So I picked up my journal and staring on the page were my resolutions to make some changes. How could I be different? How could I get you to read this awesome blog? Say something motivational? or maybe ask you all to write down your top 5 resolutions of what you will be doing this year. Woo Hoo!
For me, I decided that the year 2016 will be one not of things I think I should do, but of things I shouldn't do. I have a growing business with the ProPops, and of course I have my goals for that. But in my personal life, I've decided that there will be no "New Year's Resolutions" in the Toay household. Instead, I will be forming lots of "Anti Resolutions" Yes, Anti. So what in the hell are Anti Resolutions, and how does it relate to health. I wrote and put out a lot of what I think to be good, awesome information (if I can say so myself) related to health and digestion, as well as other social media channels. When it comes to better health, you all are smart and intelligent people. I'm sure you all know it is important for you to be healthy to live long and enjoy life, with that inherent sense to be healthy guiding our way. We know what we should be doing for our health. Heck, I know I should be outside getting healthy right now instead of here at the coffee shop writing this; but I've decided to change up my routine. I know I shouldn't be having that second helping of my grandmother's chocolate pecan pie, but I do. We all make choices, right. But it's the act of follow through and doing what we believe will be the healthy choice. But I'm tired of those expectations, the possible let down and guilt associated with it. Ok, Jared, got it.... What shall I do? Instead of making resolutions of things we should be doing in the new year (eat, better, join a gym, etc), how about we try something new this year and make resolutions not to do certain things. Make a resolution not to eat certain foods that we know are unhealthy for us; try it for two weeks. Or resolve not to be condescending to a spouse or child. Or how about not to talk badly about people behind their backs. You know, say whatever you are feeling directly to their face instead of to someone else. Or how about simply make a resolution not to derail or be critical to yourself, for lack of belief in yourself can be the unhealthiest of all. So this year (and to the next), I say "Happy New Year", my fellow ProPoppers. In 2016, how about making a resolution not to be timid in what you want from people who provide advice. You should demand more from me. And demand more from yourselves. But then again demanding to do more might actually then be a resolution to do something, which is actually what I don't want you to do. -Jared Bonus: The first step to internal change, many believe is to begin to take supplements. I've recently wrote 8 reasons why it shouldn't necessarily be in the form of a pill and some out-of-the-ordinary substitutes. (You can download it here).
