I recently read an article entitled "The 5 pillars of High Performance" by Brendon Burchard. It was a great read in that one of his "pillars" was Energy. In the article, he was referring to the energy and power of the brain when he said that high performers have a lot of energy. He said, "The power plant doesn't have energy, it creates energy. Energy isn't something you have. It's something you are creating in the moment based on how you think." He's saying we have the ability to create usable energy simply by our will to think.
When I read his article, I was in the mind set of trying to be more energized about my business. It was 5:30 am on a Sunday morning. But the more I thought about it, the more I realized it actually is also (if not more) appropriate to use this analogy as it relates to our physical energy or lack thereof throughout the day. Could that same principle be applied to our physical energy?
. In my many years of helping people find a better path to health and happiness, inevitably it's come through the power of foods. A common phrase I hear is that they feel lethargic or tired or can't seem to fully wake up without coffee or energy drinks. "I seem to have that 3:00 crash" and don't have energy. Heck, you may be one of them. In my recent post, I show you how to get true, natural energy from your foods. Who doesn't want that?
Most of you already know that I can talk about the power of foods all day; how foods help us in all areas in our lives, but especially in being more energetic. By eating the right types of foods in the right quantities at the right times, I believe we can improve our health and energy levels. So after reading Mr. Burchard's article, it really resonated again what I value about the "energy" we create from foods. If you don't have any energy and are lethargic and tired (possibly feeling like the "walkers" from The Walking Dead), than in most instances, your body is not able to create energy from the foods you are eating. The key then would be to find foods to boost your immune systems. Foods that I call "Energy Boosting Foods." How does our body create energy, the power to think or to move? How do you better utilize foods for energy? It takes the nutrients from the foods and uses those nutrients to create it. I liken it to stoking a furnace. If you don't give the furnace the right type of fuel, your furnace will be in embers and has to be re-kindled. How does this analogy apply to us? We eat or drink foods in order to get that fire going again. How do you normally feel when you are lethargic or lack energy and eat a bag of chips or grab a snack bar? You get that initial quick burst of energy, but eventually come back down to a slower resting point an hour or two later. And in many instances, even less energetic than before you ate the chips. It's like throwing gasoline on a fire. You get a quick burst of heat, but there is not enough wood to keep the fire going longer term. After the gasoline burns, you throw more on until there is nothing left to burn. So what happens if your body doesn't create sustainable energy from the foods you eat? It becomes waste in our bodies... Wasted "energy" is wasted because its not being used. As for those of you who may have a few extra pounds to lose, i say "Extra waste turns into extra weight." "Ok, Jared," you say, "what foods should I be eating?" In future posts, I'll address how to find the right types of foods to eat. But for now, know that I developed Jared's ProPops for that specific purpose, to help show the body how use all of the energy you put into your body and create from foods with minimal waste or minimal excess weight. To me, better health is found through better foods. What do you think? Are there foods that give you energy? If you enjoyed this post, do me a favor and click the like button below or comment below.
