How To Increase Serotonin And Dopamine Naturally
What does dopamine and serotonin do in the brain? More specifically, what does serotonin do as it relates to our sleep, hunger, and happiness levels?
Serotonin is a neurochemical that helps regulate sleep, hunger levels, mediate moods, and actually controls your ability to feel pain. Roughly 95% of the serotonin is created and your gut.
Your gut is lined with 100 million nerve cells called neurons, so it seems plausible that your gut not only helps digestion, but guides emotion.
What's even more incredible is the ability of those neurons to actually produce "happy hormones" that are influenced by the billions of the good micro-organisms that's found in your gut. Which, not only limits inflammation, but improves nutrient absorption and charges the pathway of neurons that going from your gut to your brain, but in turn, shields the gut line from allowing toxins to enter your bloodstream. It's so amazing what our body can do.
Knowing how serotonin works can help create a better understanding of how it can be regulated in our bodies. Serotonin affects mood and drawing that correlation to the gut and digestion can answer the question of how to increase serotonin and dopamine naturally.
