This and the fact that our heart weighs about three quarters of a pound or so, and our liver weighs about four pounds, makes our probiotic bacteria one of the largest organs in our bodies.
Now, probiotics are live, active bacteria that live all throughout our intestine. And although technically located throughout our bodies, probiotics are commonly discovered inside the stomach, where they assist to preserve healthful the living bacteria that balances out all of the harmfull micro organisms present.
Probiotics consist of "pros," or supporting or favoring, and "biotic," which is pertaining to life or specific life conditions as well as "anti," or opposing or neutralizing life. So even from the word itself, you get the idea how important these living bacteria support our overall health. So knowing that probiotics go to “support life” there is now a better understanding of what is probiotics used for as it relates to our health.
