Does Will Power Really Stop Food Cravings?
What happens when you have cravings and end up being hungry for more food? When it comes to cravings and the health of your gut, you can tell a lot as to how good your digestion is by the types of cravings you have. I know most of you, at one time or another, have said, "I'm hungry" or "I'm starving", but are cravings good or bad for you? How can you tell?
Here's a tip for you. If you get those 3:00 PM crashes, most of the people associate blood sugar related issues with actual hunger, and there's a huge difference in addressing that. So, if you get those 3:00 PM crashes and you think to yourself, okay, what kind of foods do I really want, and you think about maybe a steak or a potato or an avocado, then generally it's nutritionally based. What that means is that your body's just not getting enough nutrients from the foods, the good foods, that you're eating.
However, if you are mentally thinking about a specific type of food, or even a name of a food like Reese's Peanut Butter Cups or Pringles Sour Cream & Onion chips, then it's all mental and it's blood sugar related and should be addressed accordingly. If you have nutritional issues, again, focus on digestion and probiotics. If you have blood sugar related issues, the best things for you are something that's protein based and not those crap candies and chips and things of that nature because that just makes the problem worse. So, again, do you have a name of the foods that you're craving? If you do, it's blood sugar related.
In this episode of The Mental Minute, I discuss one of the ways people can analyze what types of foods their body is craving by whether or not they can actually name a food they are craving. Wait, what? Listen to this episode and find out whether your foods have names and see your nutrition improve?
