Proof That Gut Health And Brain Health Are Connected
Why do most fail at fixing their gut health? The reason is because there are little know ways your gut health and brain are connected that must be addressed.
It's important to note we are on the verge of a new frontier of addressing our health, that new frontier being through our gut.
If I had my way (or money), I would spend my time dedicated to learning how our gut health is connected to all of the diseases of our immune system or how poor gut health can contribute to a break down of our autoimmunity in general.
Branching out from there, we'd begin to see that skin-related issues and mental health issues all stem from the health and well-being of our gut. Science is starting to spend time and money on it, but there is still a long way to go because of skepticism or uncertainty as to why our health originates in the gut. The underlying question should be, how many psychologists and psychiatrists would still be in practice today if there was consensus based on a scientific fact that mental health disorders could be traced back to disorders of the gut?
Fix the gut, fix the mind. But right now, science seems to take the chicken-and-the-egg approach when it comes to our gut microbiome. They take a little bit of information or study, apply it to some specific areas of research, but then often become frozen when it comes to applying to our overall health. What do I mean?
Let's say you take a dozen or so people that had Crohn's disease, and then took a sample of each one of their microbiome. I would bet that they all would have similarities in their gut microbiome: how it acts, reacts, types of inflammatory markers, etc. That's good news, right? What would be the bad news? The bad news is that they have very limited knowledge or time to answer the question, “Ok. Now, what does this mean?” It would take more than a singular event. Answering that question would require a holistic approach, not only in how our body is working at that given moment holistically, but how it has worked over a lifetime.
There is more and more evidence pointing as proof that our gut health and brain health are connected. And based on the research already been done, the reason doctors are confused about gut health is simply their belief that the problems of the mind don't actually begin in the mind, but in the gut.
