The Science Of DNA In Gut Bacteria
So what exactly is a fecal transplant? When you pass bacterial filled feces from one person to another is gut bacteria affected by the dna?
In the age of strong gut health, there is a very unique topic that should at least be mentioned, which is fecal transplants of gut bacteria. Now, I realize this might be a little cringe worthy but once you understand that probiotics assist in removing bad bacteria and toxins from a bowel movement you'll realize this isn't so far fetched.
Considering all the beneficial effects of proper gut flora that I've discussed here on Human Health it's not surprising that there may be is a strong interest in fecal transplantation, which is the transfer of stool from a healthy person to a diseased person and gross as this may seem at first, did you think about the stool of patients with colitis or bad gut issues?
Of course, we're not gonna go into detail here but it's really not a pretty sight and people are more concerned really with the safety issues associated with fecal transplantation as there are very few long term studies on the effects of it in humans. And now it's not clear if the positive effects that we observe in the short term will be sustained over time as the risks most people are concerned about are things like infections and those are a little unclear at this time. One thing is clear is that DNA and gut bacteria seem to be connected somehow and looking at how changing diet and lifestyle changes gut biome should be looked at in much deeper discussions.
