Does Will Power Affect Your Cravings?
Did you know in most instances, cravings are simply just a blood sugar issue and ultimately a mind game your brain plays on your body? If you have enough will power, will it really stop food cravings? Ultimately, there is a huge difference between craving certain foods and actual hunger.
Today I'm going to be talking about hunger. How do you know when you're really hungry or if it's just your mind playing tricks on you. I'm going to give you a fun way to figure that out, but if you're thirsty, generally most instances, you'll pretty much drink whatever is available, Coke, tea, water, kombucha. It's going to quench that thirst, however when it comes to foods, we are so discriminatory and down right picky when it comes to those foods that satisfy our hunger.
So when somebody says, "I'm hungry," what do you say? Do you say steak or potatoes or salad, which obviously never happens, and if they do, then generally that means that there's some real hunger there, but if somebody says a name or a brand specifically, then know that it's blood sugar related and their two separate foods to be addressed at different times.
Somebody says, "I'm hungry but Reese's Peanut Butter Cups would sound amazing. Well, Pringles Sour Cream and Onion chips would sound even better." No, that's a mental game that your mind is playing tricks on you and that you should learn to regular blood sugar more appropriately. In today's podcast, I share my thoughts on why there is a huge difference in how your brain and your gut approach in influencing how and what you grab to eat. Listen to this episode, and the next time you feel you need something to eat, use my tip to determine if you are actually hungry or it's your blood sugar talking.
