Lactobacillus. Bifidus. Gut Flora... You may not know what these words mean, but if you are in the habit of taking a probiotic pill, these are more than likely common probiotic strains found in them. What exactly do probiotics do? Even if you don't know exactly how they work, I bet you've heard this common phrase before, "If you want your gut and immune system to be healthy, take probiotics".
But Monica Reinagel, The Nutrition Diva, gves a different perspective and presents some poignant information that might not be something you would expect from someone in the health industry. In her recent article "Are Probiotic Foods A Waste Of Time" she wonders, when it comes to probiotics, "people may be stocking the pond but starving the fish?"
