Stomach Inflammation And Anxiety
Why is nutrition the key to fight depression? A strong correlation between nutrition and stress shows there are surprising effects of foods on nutrition.
One of the most underutilized way to address anxiety and depression is through nutrition and how we absorb that nutrition from the foods we eat. The key being nutritious and healthy foods. But what most people don't realize is that the lack of nutrition from foods can cause inflammation in the body, and this inflammation is one of the biggest culprits of depression and anxiety.

Being Around Animals Means Less Gut Stress
Have you ever thought about if our immune system improves with being around animals? A large percentage of people have pets or live around animals daily so is it too far fetched to think animals can help our digestion?
So it might be possible knowing how our relationship with the land can actually make contributions to having a more healthy gut and microbiome. Now, living inside a region where it might be rural or personal homestead might be peaceful and quiet, however, the actual cause why human beings choose to dwell in rural areas for better health might be that they can actually handle stress better than their city-dwelling compadres.

Empathy, How To Improve
One of the topics of conversation I seem to be having most often with my children is how to be a more compassionate and understanding human being. My biggest challenge when discussing the state of the world is to show them that they have to take an active role in life. My belief is that we are put on this earth to create a better space for those around us. Before we create a better space out of our circle, however, we should create a better space within our circle. And that starts with having empathy. ⠀
Empathy is different that sympathy. Sympathy takes no action on your part, whereas empathy requires you to take an active role in understanding the other party; your goal is to understand them better. When discussing a difficult situation, my kids have a habit of saying things like, "that's sad" or "I can't believe that happened to him/her". That's sympathy. Empathy would require them to ask different questions. (If you want to continue reading, listen to or download this podcast, follow the link). |
