In this episode of The Mental Minute Podcast, I explain which types of foods actually improve probiotics and the health of your gut. Just like fertilizer of a lawn; you have to give your gut the nutrients it needs in order to allow the probiotics to grow and be happy.

Health secrets for better digestion
,In today's episode of the Go With Your Gut Podcast, I look at what I think is a food group that is absolutely vital to better gut health and digestion: prebiotics and prebiotic foods.
It seems everyone knows what a probiotic is, but rarely do people mention prebiotics in the same breath. I wondered why and decided to make a 4 minute podcast to reiterate the reasons why, if you don't include prebiotics in your diet, the full benefit of those probiotic pills and supplements will ultimately be wasted.
Take a few minutes to listen, and then begin to look for these at your neighborhood grocery store. Your gut will thank you. And if you enjoyed listening, please tap the like button below, share this with your audience, or comment and tell me how I can improve.
Lactobacillus. Bifidus. Gut Flora... You may not know what these words mean, but if you are in the habit of taking a probiotic pill, these are more than likely common probiotic strains found in them. What exactly do probiotics do? Even if you don't know exactly how they work, I bet you've heard this common phrase before, "If you want your gut and immune system to be healthy, take probiotics".
But Monica Reinagel, The Nutrition Diva, gves a different perspective and presents some poignant information that might not be something you would expect from someone in the health industry. In her recent article "Are Probiotic Foods A Waste Of Time" she wonders, when it comes to probiotics, "people may be stocking the pond but starving the fish?"
Monica explains the rationale in her most recent podcast.
Take Monica Reinagel's advice, if probiotics are part of your daily routine, begin to focus on what you feed your gut bacteria which could be the key that ultimately opens up the box of better health.
