Prebiotics: The Most Important Part Of Health

Is there a food that improves probiotics? Probiotics are living things and need food, so what are the foods that probiotics need?

Today I'm going to be talking about prebiotics. Now I bet you probably thought I was going to be talking about probiotics or dietary fiber in terms of your overall gut health. But actually prebiotics are that silent partner, really the glue that I think holds all the of this together.

Essentially, what is a prebiotic? Prebiotics are just simply foods that the probiotics feed off of. The best way that I like to explain it, let's say that you have a lawn that you're trying to start, you throw down the grass seed, which are the probiotics. You have to throw down some fertilizer to get that grass growing good, green and strong.

Poor Nutrition Can Destroy Brain Health

How Does Poor Nutrition Affect Humans

Did you know that poor nutrition can affect your brain, and if your diet is bad, can actually destroy your brains ability to work properly?  Your brain depends on good nutrition, so it's imperative that the foods you eat go to support your overall health, but more specifically your brain health.
In this episode of The Mental Minute, I explain why your brain is literally built from the foods you eat, and why that's important for you to perform necessary tasks and rational thinking.

How Sugars Affect The Brain

Does Will Power Really Stop Food Cravings?

What happens when you have cravings and end up being hungry for more food?  When it comes to cravings and the health of your gut, you can tell a lot as to how good your digestion is by the types of cravings you have.  I know most of you, at one time or another, have said, "I'm hungry" or "I'm starving", but are cravings good or bad for you? How can you tell?

Here's a tip for you. If you get those 3:00 PM crashes, most of the people associate blood sugar related issues with actual hunger, and there's a huge difference in addressing that. So, if you get those 3:00 PM crashes and you think to yourself, okay, what kind of foods do I really want, and you think about maybe a steak or a potato or an avocado, then generally it's nutritionally based. What that means is that your body's just not getting enough nutrients from the foods, the good foods, that you're eating.

What stress and anxiety do to the digestive system

Good Digestion Means Less Stress

Can stress cause digestive disorders?  There has to be a significant relationship between stress and our digestive system, but what is it?

When our bodies are under constant stress, it seems completely plausible that this can lead to digestive disorders.  So on the opposite end of the spectrum, we could probably conclude good digestion means less stress, right?  Regardless of where you fall, we all want to know what does stress and anxiety do to the digestive system,

Control Food Cravings With Will Power

Does Will Power Affect Your Cravings?

Did you know in most instances, cravings are simply just a blood sugar issue and ultimately a mind game your brain plays on your body?  If you have enough will power, will it really stop food cravings?  Ultimately, there is a huge difference between craving certain foods and actual hunger.

Today I'm going to be talking about hunger. How do you know when you're really hungry or if it's just your mind playing tricks on you. I'm going to give you a fun way to figure that out, but if you're thirsty, generally most instances, you'll pretty much drink whatever is available, Coke, tea, water, kombucha. It's going to quench that thirst, however when it comes to foods, we are so discriminatory and down right picky when it comes to those foods that satisfy our hunger.

Affecting People Around You With Positivity

Influence people for the better

Affecting People Around You

Do you think your attitude affects those around you?  Is your positivity or negativity affecting those around you.  Most people don't realize how contagious your behavior is to those you meet.

Most people have heard the phrase, "You Are What You Eat". But I believe it's much more apropos to say, "You Eat What You Are." What you "spit out" is certainly more important to those people around you than what you put in. ⠀
⠀
Your words and your actions based on those words should be what counts, not necessarily that you have good thoughts and ideas about doing them. Look at it this way. I'm sure you know plenty of people who are in the fitness/nutrition/health industry that profess and live a "healthy" life, yet gossip, talk s*^t, are rude, inconsiderate, and selfish. But have you ever taken a step back and thought about those people that may regularly have fast food addictions or a weight problem or struggling with their health, yet bring light and kindness and goodness into your life?⠀

Gut Brain Link

Mental Power Digestion

Is there a connection between your gut and your brain?  Is the brain or the gut more powerful?  Knowing which has the power to control what you eat is the key to resolving any health or digestion related issues you may have.

What part of your body is more powerful in determining what you eat, you brain or your gut? I'm going to use an illustration to prove my point.

But let's say you've got that 3:00 pm crashing and you start to feel lethargic and your mind's saying, "Hey we need some food, food, food," and you start thinking about all those specific foods. But let's say you go pick out some potato chips, some sour cream and onion. You take that back to your desk, all the sudden you eat it. You feel, "Oh, that's great. And then about 10 minutes later you feel like you're hungry again.
