3 Ways To Include Spiritual Health Into Your Day
Everyone is looking for spirituality and a sense of purpose, no matter how they classify it. When it comes to our health, a large component of that is the importance of spiritual health and wellbeing.
I believe one of the strongest pillars (and most important from a mental standpoint) is the third of four pillars of holistic health, and that's being spiritually strong. Now, the spiritual pillar, it's such a personal piece of overall wellness, and everybody tends to define it differently. I look at spirituality as a sense of purpose or direction or meaning, without which values can slip by the wayside. This is done through meditation, prayer, or other activities that foster a connection in nature or to a higher power, and not necessarily about a specific religion or belief system.
After focusing on physical and nutritional needs, some people might practice mindfulness or prayer as a way of checking in with their intentions, guiding their actions and then maintaining a values-based approach to life. So here's what I do. I dedicate a small time, a chunk of time, each day to myself, and this can be used to relax or meditate or pray. I randomly choose seven minutes.
Secondly, find a way to record the thoughts about life. I literally record myself talking. And three, choose three rock solid values in life and then think about how it will guide you long-term. Being confident in those three core values will help guide everyday decisions and then will make it easier for you to say "Yes" to things that matter, and "No" to the things that don't align with your values. In this podcast episode, I explain why having that sense of purpose gives you the spark and the spirit to accomplish your health and wellness goals.

I didn't know that some individuals may use prayer to help guide their actions. My brother was recently released from prison, and he would like to find some support. Maybe he should consider finding a professional that can help him improve his spiritual wellness.
