What Are The Barriers To Effective Communication?
We all want to be effective at communication. The most powerful form of communication is the back and forth exchange of ideas and thoughts that are received, understood, and formulated. Good listening skills require constant practice. In order to be more effective communicators, listening and empathetic responding to what other are telling us is paramount.

Empathy, How To Improve
One of the topics of conversation I seem to be having most often with my children is how to be a more compassionate and understanding human being. My biggest challenge when discussing the state of the world is to show them that they have to take an active role in life. My belief is that we are put on this earth to create a better space for those around us. Before we create a better space out of our circle, however, we should create a better space within our circle. And that starts with having empathy. ⠀
Empathy is different that sympathy. Sympathy takes no action on your part, whereas empathy requires you to take an active role in understanding the other party; your goal is to understand them better. When discussing a difficult situation, my kids have a habit of saying things like, "that's sad" or "I can't believe that happened to him/her". That's sympathy. Empathy would require them to ask different questions. (If you want to continue reading, listen to or download this podcast, follow the link). What Are The Principles Of Effective Communication?
Are there effective communication tools we can use that are physically health-related in nature? What I mean is that when it comes to our lives, everything is either inflammatory or anti-inflammatory by nature. When it comes to eating and the foods you put in your mouth, by it's very nature, thinks it is beneficial and helpful or is negative. Think about that the next time you eat your next meal.
The same could be said of our lives. It is commonplace to have a signification amount of inflammation surrounding us. In this episode of my podcast, I discuss why internal inflammation can come from our external environment and provide a VERY simple solution to eliminate 99% of negativity in your life. And you don't have to do anything. To listen to or download this podcast, click the link. |
